HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY/MONTH

It’s the month of love and the AIM Centre would like to send some your way! We are ever so grateful to our supporters for their generosity. We’d like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to every person that has done something for the AIM Centre – be it the giving of your time, through donations or sponsorships, or by any other means. We certainly couldn’t continue to do what we do without your help and support, so thank you!

DATING SOMEONE WITH A DISABILITY

As it’s Valentine’s Day month, the AIM Centre wanted to generate awareness around dating someone with a disability. Always remember to treat them in the exact same way that you would treat anyone else, and to never be afraid to ask them what they need. Learn more about this topic in our latest blog.

EPILEPSY IN SOUTH AFRICA

International Epilepsy Day took place on the 11th of February. Did you know that 1% of the South African population suffers from the condition and that, in most cases, the cause of it is unknown? Having said that, epilepsy can be brought about as a result of a head injury, an injury sustained at birth, alcohol and/or drug abuse, aging, or a biochemical or metabolic imbalance. Remember, if someone has an epileptic seizure in your presence, you must never attempt to put anything in their mouth or restrict their movement. Rather, do what you can to protect them from injury, cushion their head and lay them on their side once the seizure has come to an end.

WE SAY GOOD-BYE TO A SPECIAL FRIEND

We are heartbroken to notify our followers and supporters of the passing of Gail Schneider, our beloved friend, colleague, mom and AIM Charity Shop supervisor. Gail passed away on the morning of Tuesday, 19th February. We will all miss her very dearly, and our thoughts and prayers go out to her loved ones. RIP Gail.
